Would you like to be a part of helping us impact kids for eternity by opening up your home to our college summer staff?
To become a host home, fill out the application below.
Here are some of our frequently asked questions!
WHO WOULD STAY IN MY HOME?
One or more staff of the same gender. We are looking for host homes for around 80 staff next summer, so if you are able to host more than one staff, it would be greatly appreciated.
WHAT TIME DO THE STAFF LEAVE IN THE MORNING AND RETURN IN THE EVENING?
The staff will leave your home M-F around 6:45 AM and will return around 6:00 PM.
WHAT ABOUT TRANSPORTATION
The staff will provide their own transportation.
WHAT ABOUT MEALS?
We would need you to provide breakfast every day for the staff. It can be something simple, they leave early in the morning. We also ask that you provide at least one dinner per week, we want them to know you and your family!
WHAT ABOUT SLEEPING ARRANGEMENTS?
Each staff person will need his or her own bed. The size of bed does not matter. The staff will need access to a bathroom as well, and we prefer no more than 4 people sharing a bathroom. If necessary, we can make arrangements for air mattresses.
WHAT IS THE COMMITMENT?
You can choose to host two or more staff for any combination of the following 2019 dates:
- Training Week: May 22nd - May 30th
- Camp First Half: May 30th - July 4th
- Camp Second Half: July 4th - August 7th
- Full Camp Summer: May 30th - August 7th
- Full Camp Summer + Training: May 22nd - August 7th
WHEN DO I NEED TO LET YOU KNOW?
We want to have all the host homes in place by May 2020. So please let us know as soon as possible!
DO I NEED TO DO THEIR LAUNDRY?
If you have a washer and dryer available, it would be a huge blessing for the staff to be able to use it, but you do not need to do their laundry for them. If you do not have a washer and dryer, please help them find a local laundromat.
WHAT DO THE STAFF DO ON THE WEEKENDS?
Our staff frequently go back to their homes on the weekends. If not, they are responsible for their own meals and entertainment on the weekends, unless you want to plan something with them.
DO THE STAFF GO TO CHURCH WITH US OR ON THEIR OWN?
It would be great if you would invite them to attend church with you, but they are not required to attend church with you, they can choose their own church if they desire.
WHAT IF MY FAMILY GOES OFF TOWN WHILE WE ARE HOSTING?
We are fine with the college staff staying at your home when you're not there; let them take care of the dogs for you! If you are uncomfortable with them staying at your house while you are not there, let us know and we will find other arrangements.
WHAT HAPPENS IF A STAFF MEMBER GETS SICK?
They will need to stay home for the day like they would if they were at their own house. Mentoring Alliance Summer Camps staff will help make sure they find a doctor if needed. If the illness is COVID-19, we will move the staff member to a quarantine location for the required amount of time.
