In June 2014, Darlene Marshall walked away from a 32-year career in public education to work for The Mentoring Alliance. In her own words, “I knew God was moving me to a new season in my life and I’ve never looked back.” Darlene, a former teacher, school principal and Director Elementary Schools in Tyler ISD, felt God leading her to a new role where she could link together the two passions of her life: her love of the Gospel and making a difference in the lives of children. She now serves as the Director of the Boys & Girls Clubs of East Texas that impacts over 900 kids daily in 17 different school locations.
Darlene is a graduate of the University of Texas at Tyler where she obtained a Bachelor of Education, a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction and Certification in Educational Leadership and School Administration. Through her “velvet steel” leadership style, Darlene has encouraged many to grow professionally and has produced many successful teachers and school administrators.
Pouring into others spiritually is a gift that Darlene strives to share with others on a daily basis. Her desire is for all people, especially children, to understand the great love and amazing grace that God has made available to all who believe in Him.
"But He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore, I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me." ~II Corinthians 12:9
