Question and Answer with Chauncie Astrowski, our Newest Mentor Coordinator
Tell us a little about yourself.
I am happily married with 2 dogs (Bella & Buster). I am from Longview, TX and the youngest of four siblings. I enjoy traveling, food and competitive sports (I like to WIN).
Why Gospel Village?
I chose Gospel Village because it is an organization that I believe aligns with my values and way of life. This job offers me the opportunity to love and serve others.
Tell us a little of your story.
Recently I have been learning to trust God wholeheartedly. I have been experiencing a lot of what feels like monumental steps in my life and along with that comes apprehension. Instead of worrying about what might or might not happen, I have been choosing to go to the source of who has seen everyday of my life and watches over me day and night. This gives me great comfort and security to step out and go where God leads me.
What was your favorite part of your wedding?
My most favorite part of my wedding was my friend Hannah feeding me french fries before the ceremony. Everyone told me that I wouldn’t eat that day, but I did!! I truly felt like a princess with all the doting and love that was lavished upon me.
Did anything crazy/surprising happen on your honeymoon?
Yes, The dining staff that served our table found out we were on our honeymoon. One day when we came to dinner a team of servers came out singing a happy honeymoon song with a piece of cake with a candle. We blew out the candle and had to kiss in front of everyone in the ship’s dinner hall. Needless to say, I was so embarrassed.
In your mind, when is it acceptable to start singing Christmas Carols?
Definitely November 1st. And in my defense, I don’t know any Thanksgiving songs. Someone should really get Turkey Day a National Anthem song.
If you have to pick one quote and or bible verse you LOVE and that defines you a little bit, what is it?
Matthew 19:26- “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.” When I am facing situations and I don’t have a solution I often try to impose my limitations upon God, but this scripture helps me to remember that God has no limitations and he can do anything.
We are so thrilled the Lord brought Chauncie to our team here at the Mentoring Alliance. She will be taking over the Elementary Girl Mentor Coordinating, and can’t wait to meet our community. Feel free to give her a shout out at firstname.lastname@example.org
