Tom Lucas joins The Mentoring Alliance team with a strong background in information technology. Originally planning a career in law enforcement, God led Tom down a different path. He started in an entry-level IT Operations role with GTE Directories. This led to rapid promotions and learning web development in the early days of the internet. A two-year Department of Justice Grant paved the opportunity to join the Arlington Police Department, developing innovative systems that led to being an invited speaker to a number of national and international policing conferences around the United States. As his career moved into management and leadership, Tom spent time in municipal government and then as a senior leader in the world of Bible translation with the Texas-based non-profit, The Seed Company. God's hand has provided opportunities to develop areas of proficiency in technology, operations, process re-engineering, and high-performance team building.
Tom is married to his fabulous wife, Melissa, who is currently engaged supporting mothers of children fighting or taken by cancer. They have a wonderful college-aged daughter, Dominique in an education program, looking to reach young children for Christ through non-traditional education, especially those who are disenfranchised or challenged by social inequities.
Tom is excited about being a part of The Mentoring Alliance. He says, "Impacting young lives for Christ gets to the core of creating generational change and this is the space that TMA operates within. I pray that with God's grace, I can be used to shepherd capacity building that positions TMA's wonderful staff to generate healthy growth of our programs while maintaining our organizational culture."
